As much as I am drawn to traditional materials and methods of making such as turning and carving, I also have a particular fondness for making props and models, with a focus on dystopian sci-fi and science-fantasy.

There is something quite delightful in creating years of history in layers of grime in a single afternoon from household products, especially when the final product is convincing enough to be taken as the presented material without question.
