Vessels are intended to hold something and its’ contents are an offering, whereas the empty vessel is an invitation.

When the vessel is empty it still holds one thing - potential. This may be as enticing as the object itself, and this emptiness allows the viewer to see the object as a whole, unobscured, and unencumbered by its’ contents.
